New year, means a new Finish-A-Long series! And since my 2018 goals include trying to clear my WIP list, I figure joining in and logging my
proposed finishes for the quarter would be a good way to help keep me on track.
At the very least, it will force me to take stock of what I
have or, what will more likely be the case, what I haven’t gotten done each
quarter – ha!
have or, what will more likely be the case, what I haven’t gotten done each

Plus – I’ve created a handy FREE Monthly Project worksheet to help me + YOU stay organized!
Since I spend most of my time sewing alone, this is a good
way of feeling connected with our community and, let’s face it, if you’re not a
quilter you don’t really get the whole WIP pile. It makes me feel like I have
quilty WIP soul sisters that understand my new quilt vs. old quilt projects
struggle 😉

In any event, until I sat down to write this post, I hadn’t
even thought to look at my list from Q4 2017. I figured we could do it together!

First up is….
HEXIE STRIPE QUILT

Oooh, I’m pleased to report that I managed to not only
finish my Hexie Stripe quilt,
but she’s also up on the blog! Suzy designs a mean pattern (mean, as in, super awesome!) and this one gives me all
the happy quilty feels. Not only do I love my fabric selection (can you ever go
wrong with Anna Maria Horner print? I think not!), but this one represents my first foray into free motion
quilting. I couldn’t be prouder of how she turned out. To say I was scared to
attempt FMQ on her would be an understatement, but you have to take the plunge
at some point and I’m super happy I did with her.

PLUS INFINITY QUILT

Technically, when I wrote my Q4 2017 list, my Plus Infinity Quilt was already done, she was just waiting to go live in cyber space. What’s super
cool is that I’m currently snuggled under her on a ridiculously cold January
winter day while typing up my new list. Good times! This is my favourite quilt
at the moment. I love all the different shades of RJR Fabrics Cotton Supreme
Solids in blue and green I used, the hand quilting detail is just so fun to
look at and the Cotton + Steel print I used for the backing always makes me
smile (not to mention is super soft). You can find the Plus Infinity quilt pattern here to make your very own!

PLUS INFINITY MINI QUILT

One of the few new projects I added to my Q4 list was my Plus Infinity Mini Quilt. Not only did I get her done, but I also released the pattern! This quilt pattern makes an excellent baby quilt or wall hanging.
HEARTLAND PLUS INFINITY QUILT

What? Another Plus Infinity quilt?! Yup, I love this pattern
so much that I was working on two very different versions simultaneously. What
I love about this one is how effectively it shows the versatility of the
pattern. This one is all done and was gifted over the holidays, but with the
polar vortex that has been visiting us, I haven’t had a chance to get some
quilts in the wild shots. Until she gets photographed and shared, she still
counts as a WIP in my books.

MAYPOLE QUILT

This was another quilt I started quite awhile ago while
pattern testing for Suzy Quilts.
I had been holding onto these Michael Miller Fabrics from their Luxe Collection
for quite some time and I just love how the bold, saturated colours pair so
nicely with the graphic nature of Suzy’s Maypole Quilt pattern.
She spent months draped over the back of my sofa patiently waiting for me to
bind her up and I’m happy to report I got her done over the holiday break. But,
similar to my Heartland Plus Infinity quilt, she needs a good photo session.

PINK LEMONADE QUILT

This is one of my most personal projects I’ve ever worked on
and it was with mixed emotions that I completed the hand binding on her before
the holidays. I even have the pattern all tested and ready to go, I just need a
full-on photo of her for the cover to release her. So, stay tuned for that
coming out sometime in 2018! In the meantime, you can read a little more about her here.

SEW MOJO MINIS

These have been done for awhile now. All in all I have 6
done, 3 of which are featured in Suzy Quilts’ recently released Craftsy Class – Fabric Play: Sewing Mojo Minis.
But I still need to find frames for them, find a place to hang them and write a
post about how awesome it is to create these minis. If you haven’t given them a
go, you totally should!

MEDALLION SQUARED QUILT

Even though I’ve been mulling whether I plan on continuing
with this project, I really want to give this quilt a go. The colourway just
speaks to me. It’s quite a departure from the usual bright and bold colours I
typically gravitate towards, but there is something about the soft and subtle
hues paired with the more graphic pattern that really appeals to me. The block
is available as a free pattern and can be found here.
If you’re looking to explore foundation paper piecing, this is a great pattern
to give a go.

SEWCIAL BEE SAMPLER QUILT

I have one row to finish before my Sewcial Bee Sampler quilt
is done (here is Row 1, Row 2, Row 3 and Row 4)! I just need to sneak in some
time to finish her up. I think a weekend of focused sewing should do the trick.
Even though I haven’t touched her in awhile, she has been on my mind. I’ve been
thinking about the backing fabric for awhile now and, although I initially
planned on backing her in Essex Linen (shocker, I know 😉),
I found this gorgeous Cotton + Steel Rifle Paper Co. print that I’ve been
dreaming about for some time. I finally took the plunge and order her during
the holiday break. Isn’t she pretty?!

QUILTED PILLOWS

I haven’t even touched or thought of these pretties since I
wrote about them for my Q4 list! I still want to get to them – when – is really
the big question.

MOLINARI WALL QUILT

I think I buried 1 of the gazillion threads I have left to
bury on my Molinari wall quilt. I love this one and she makes me ridiculously
happy whenever I look at her. I just. Need. To. Get. Her. Done.

OUR YARD QUILT

This little bundle keeps staring at me every time I open my
fabric cupboard. She’s cute. She’s tempting. I just don’t know what I want to
make with her. So, she’s hanging out on my shelf until inspiration strikes.

WEIGHT OF LOVE QUILT

I would really love to get my Libs Elliott Weight of Love quilt done this year. The central hexie is all pieced, I just need to either
applique her onto a backing or cut some fabric pieces to square her up. My only
challenge is I had planned on using the leftover fabric to create the binding,
but then I went and made my 100-days of Improv quilt with them…so, I’m thinking
I may go with a black and white stripe. We’ll see.

JOY QUILT

I’m not sure if that’s the name the quilt will ultimately
have, but that’s what I’ve been calling her since I started designing her back
in the fall of 2016 (or was it summer?!). In any event, this pretty has been
keeping me busy over the holidays as I add lots of texture in the form of big
stitch hand quilting. I am loving this quilt and can’t wait to share her with
you on February 19, 2018!

DRUNKARD’S PATH QUILT
Another as yet to be named quilt! My local Montreal Modern Quilt Guild is doing a skill builder this year and I’m up in April to feature
the classic Drunkard’s Path. I thought I would hate curves of any kind, but my
first attempt with pattern testing Over the Hills was so positive, I’ve been hooked ever since. I just need to figure out my
colourway, get my Joy quilt all wrapped up and then all my focus will be on
this fun project.

So, there’s my list. At least, I think I’ve captured
everything that is kicking around my WIP pile. I’m probably forgetting
something, but these are the key projects that come to mind, so I might as well
focus on those! Three months always flies by in a flash and I doubt I’ll get
all of these done, but half the battle is listing them out, right?!

And to help keep on track, I’ve created a Monthly Project worksheet to help you stay organized too! I’ve tacked mine on the wall next to my sewing machine in hopes this keeps me focused! Get your free copy today!

I’m linking up with Izzy of Dizzy Quilts’ Blog for this
quarter of the Finish-A-Long. Tell me, what projects would you like to tackle
this quarter?

You’ve got such a fun list Shannon! I look forward to following along as your progress through it all!
Thanks, Izzy! Here's to hoping I can make some good progress 😉
What a wonderful list. Seeing your projects there are some that I now want to make, too! I have to get some finishes from my own list done first, I suppose… Thank you for joining us in the Finish-A-Long!
Thank you Sandra! I love quilting, but sometimes the struggle of balancing ALL the quilts I want to make is all too real 😉
