Accidental Quilter

I like to call myself an accidental quilter as I’d completely discounted quilting as something I’d be interested in. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon a YouTube tutorial on how to make half-square triangles that I got curious, made one, then two, and, before I knew it, I was well on my way to making my first quilt (see that here)!

That was over 10 years ago, and I haven’t looked back since 😊

My quilty style tends to be bold and graphic, and I haven’t met a stripe I didn’t like – ha! Quilting has allowed me to reconnect with my creative instincts and express myself in a way I never thought possible.

I’m now on a mission to encourage quilters of all levels to explore the fun to be had through the art of quilting. This is why you’ll find lots of tutorials, resources, and inspiration to encourage your fiber adventures!

Half-Rectangle Triangles Tutorial

It took me a minute to wrap my head around making and trimming half-rectangle triangles (HRT). To help take some of the challenge out of making these cuties, there’s a full step-by-step tutorial to help you visualize how your blocks should look at each step of the piecing journey.

A quick heads up that the Spinning Snowflakes Quilt Pattern includes half-rectangle triangles in various sizes. The larger they get, the trickier they are to keep those bias edges from stretching out on you.
