I am a total strawberry lover. Have been ever since I was a
kid. In fact, anything strawberry, especially lip balm, is my fave! Even before
I found Lip Smackers, I was gifted a strawberry flavoured lip balm that was
just my jam! I loved it and wish I still
had it J
And remember those itty bitty wild strawberries that grew in ditches and other
random places? Well, I do! Because they were some of the tastiest strawberries
I ever had and it marked me for life. I still hunt them down when I’m at the
cottage; although, wild raspberries seem to be more common up there than those
teeny strawberries.
strawberry quilt block was just the cutest. And then I started seeing those strawberry blocks pop up
everywhere on my Instagram feed. And I was wondering what was going on! Turns
out it’s the featured January block for Molli Sparkles The Honey Pot Bee.
And I thought, they’re cute, but this is my year to concentrate on my WIP and focus
on depleting my fabric stash. I didn’t think much more of it.
#QPbestyearever2017 January Instagram challenge and the theme was Bees &
Swaps. My planner pages were sadly very empty and so I reached out to you for
suggestions. Not only was Molli Sparkles #thehoneypotbee
block the main suggestion, I loved how the focus was no pressure and all about making
stuff for fun!
I don’t have to worry
about sticking to a timeline. I don’t have to stress about getting the blocks
mailed out on time. And I figured it’s a great way to keep on target of working
through my fabric stash. That’s my kind of bee block J
the strawberry block!
original one
designed by Bec measures 7.5” x 10.5” or the larger version
designed by Angie from Gnome Angel
which measures 17.5” x 24.5”. I opted
for the smaller version, no particular reason, it’s just what I went for. And
this block comes together super easy and super quick.
And then you’re piecing it together. Easy peasy!
is done!! Woot woot!
my stash revealed anything it’s that green is clearly not my go to colour.
room. I know I would have loved one on my bed when I was younger 😉
our quilting community, check out Molli Sparkles The Honey Pot Bee and the full list of designers by month.
There are two blocks released per month, but you don’t have to follow that
schedule. You know, for when life gets in the way 😉
buy strawberries by the case on our way up to the cottage and spend a good half
day cleaning and de-stemming them. It’s a whole production, but then it’s all
about making some strawberry shortcakes and homemade jam – yummy times ahead!

Love your block, Shannon. I was umming and ahhing about joining the honeypotbee but as soon as I saw that strawberry block I was a goner! I like that it's a make for yourself which is a lot less pressure than for someone else. Luckily it IS strawberry season here – I'll be thinking of you 😉
Shannon says
Oh, you are so lucky, Sue! Enjoy strawberry season and I can’t wait to see your blocks throughout The Honey Pot Bee!!

Such a cute block! I'm also a huge fan of strawberries. I remember going strawberry picking with my family as a little girl and coming home with my very own basket of strawberries!

It’s amazing what we remember from our childhood! For some reason, food plays a big part in my childhood memory bank 😉
