Spreading quilty joy one stitch at a time!

Stash Fabrics 2017 Design Star – Round 2 Voting is Open

November 16, 2017 by Shannon 2 Comments

Stash Fabrics Design Star Challenge | Round 2 | Shannon Fraser Designs | Quilting Cotton | Designer Fabrics |
Eeek! It’s official! I made the cut!!
I’m so thrilled to have made it to Round 2  of Stash Fabrics 2017 Design Star Challenge!!
And now I need your help!
If you’re new to this challenge, it first started last year
when Stash Fabrics launched their Design Star Club.

Stash Fabrics Design Star Challenge | Round 2 | Shannon Fraser Designs | Quilting Cotton | Designer Fabrics |
This club is curated by
some seriously talented makers in the industry and features the best modern
fabrics. This was kicked off to showcase the latest fabrics available while
also giving you a boost of creativity, so you can focus on making whatever inspires
you based on the curated bundle.
You can sign up for either a monthly fat quarter or half yard bundles, each have 16 coordinating fabrics selected by their featured artist.
This year that list includes:
June 2017 – Kate Basti

July 2017 – Nicolas Ball

August 2017 – Rita Hodge

September 2017 – Michelle Wilkie

October 2017 – Cheri Lehnow

November 2017 – Amy Smart

December 2017 – Svetlana Sotak

January 2018 – Rebecca Bryan

February 2018 – Latifah Saafir

March 2018 – Tiffany Marshall

April 2018 – Suzy Williams

But that’s only 11 artists. What about the 12th,
you ask?
Well, that’s where you come in!
Round 1 was open to everyone to submit as many fabric bundles as they wanted to during
the qualifying period. I ended up submitting the following 3 pretty bundles:
Bundle 1
Stash Fabrics Design Star Challenge | Round 1 | Shannon Fraser Designs | Quilting Cotton | Designer Fabrics |
Bundle 2
Stash Fabrics Design Star Challenge | Round 1 | Shannon Fraser Designs | Quilting Cotton | Designer Fabrics |
Bundle 3
Stash Fabrics Design Star Challenge | Round 1 | Shannon Fraser Designs | Quilting Cotton | Designer Fabrics |

And I wound up making the first cut with bundle #2, along
with 11 other participants 😊

For Round 2, we were given “decades” as our theme. I was
initially a little stumped as I don’t normally pick fabrics or colourways based
on a particular era. So, after some consideration, I thought about the 60s –
specifically Twiggy and I was instantly inspired! I love the bold florals, the
graphic prints and the saturated colours she wore.
via Google Search

I was so taken with the Leah Duncan Florascape print in marigold
and built my bundle around that gorgeous floral.
Included in this bundle are the following prints:
Geos Deep in Mandarin – Leah Duncan
Essex in Mango – Robert Kaufman
Herringbone in Yellow – Joel Dewberry
Summer Grove in Night – Leah Duncan
Kona in Celadon – Robert Kaufman
Florascape in Marigold – Leah Duncan
Allotments in Creamsicle – Karen Lewis
Mini Pearl Bracelets in Kelly – Lizzy House
XOXO in Dandelion – Cotton + Steel
Herringbone in Pond – Joel Dewberry
Lea’s Bloom in Blush – Leah Duncan
Essex in Peach – Robert Kaufman
Savanna Glow in Mint – Leah Duncan
Dalmation in Kumquat – Karen Lewis
Dot in Azure –  Anne
Brady
Essex in Sunshine – Robert Kaufman
Now comes the fun part – YOU get to decide who moves on to
Round 3 by hoping over here to vote for your top 3 favourite bundles!
You can vote everyday per device through November 19.
There are so many great bundles that have been created, you’re
sure to find 3 that you love and may just inspire you to get quilty!!
xo
Shannon
