Your Top 10 Favourite Blog Posts of 2025 list
Thank You
Before I dive into the quilty goodness, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for being a blog reader! Reading your comments and knowing how much inspiration and tips you get from my posts encourages me to keep showing up and sharing!
So, thank you for being here and making our quilty community that much more enjoyable.
Now on to your top 10!
Working backwards from 10 to the top post,

10. The Best Tool for Making Patchwork: Frixion Pen or Marker?
This blog post wasn’t planned – ha! In fact, many of my blog posts aren’t planned; they naturally emerge from quilty accidents I’ve encountered or realizations I’ve made during the making of a quilt. And I think to myself “Oh, I should share this”.
This is exactly how the comparison of Frixion pens vs. markers came about. I’d been working on this Spinning Snowflakes quilt and ran into some issues, and realized my marking tool was partly to blame.
So that you don’t run into the same issue, you can read my comparison here.
Bonus – you can also read a cautionary tale here!

9. Mouse Trap Quilt Abstract Version 4 the Wovens One
It was a total pinch-me moment when I noticed the Mouse Trap Abstract Quilt Version 4 made your list. This is such a modern design that I know it’s not everyone’s quilty cup of tea.
But this one holds a special place in my heart as it reminded me of why I quilt. It’s not about how many quilts I made, but it’s about enjoying the ones that I do create. You can learn more about this thought process in the Are You A Fast Or Slow Quilter.
Suffice to say, from a timing perspective, I should have machine quilted this beauty, but every time I looked at her hanging on the design wall, all I wanted to do was hand quilt her. So, I did!
A great reminder to follow your creative instincts!

8. Pink Lemonade Baby Girl Quilt in Sugar Cone
There’s not a year that’s gone by where I haven’t made a Pink Lemonade quilt. I can’t help it. It’s a reminder of the comfort quilting brings not only to us the maker, but to the recipient as well if the quilt is gifted. You can read more about the story behind the Pink Lemonade quilt here, and here’s the Sugar Cone one I made this year.
6. Modern Aztec in Kona Colour of the Year Nocturne
I loved seeing the mock-ups I pulled together of the Modern Aztec quilt in this year’s Kona Color of the Year. Playing with colourways has to be one of my favourite past-times – ha! You should see all of the combos sitting on my computer 😉
Knowing that they inspire you guarantees I’ll share some more in the New Year too! If there’s a quilt you’d love to see featured, share in the comments, and I’ll add it to the list.

7. Make a Winter Star Baby Quilt with Fat Quarters
I think it’s safe to say that we love our fat quarters. In fact, I’ve been gravitating towards them more and more. One, because I have an entire shelf in my fabric stash dedicated to these cuties. And two, because they make adding variety to your projects so easy!
Plus, I know you have them stocked in your stash, too.
So, I’ve been challenging myself to think about creative ways to use them up. ‘Cause while our fabric looks pretty on the shelf, I’d much rather use my pretty fabric. It means I can then buy more – LOL!
You can see more of the Winter Star quilt I made using a fat quarter in Posey.

6. The Big Iron Debate: What Quilters Really Think About the Oliso ProPlus
This one resonated hard with you! And I loved every minute of reading through your experiences with irons. It’s probably not so surprising given how much we use that tool within our sewing and quilting.
So, if you’re in the market for a new iron, I encourage you to read What Quilters Really Think About the Oliso ProPlus. The real insights are in the comments 😉

5. A Modern Quilter Reviews Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts Book
I see you’re as curious as I am about what to do with jelly rolls!
It’s not my go-to pre-cut, but Michelle has definitely shown me the possibilities they offer. If you’ve got a bunch of jelly rolls hanging out in your fabric stash, then take this as your sign to pick up your copy here.

4. From Cake Stand to Acorn Magic: A Playful Guide to Raw Edge Applique
You have no idea how much it warmed my heart to see the raw-edge appliqué tutorial in your favourites. I love encouraging you to explore different quilting techniques, and this one is a fun one if you’re on the hunt for a quick finish.

3. Why Bigger is Better (When Pressing Fabric)
I’ve learned over the years that I need to stop taking my initial impression as how I’m truly feeling – ha! I say this because wool pressing mats were not really on my radar, and it almost felt like a gimmick. But then I got one, and the results surprised me. So much so that I ended up upgrading to a bigger size.
Never say never has become my go-to saying 😉

2. How to Organize Your Fabric Stash
Why am I not surprised that how I organize my fabric stash was almost your top fave! We do love our fabric, and for good reason.
- They’re pretty.
- They’re inspiring.
- They’re a must for any sewing or quilty project!
How much you have on hand is entirely personal, but if you need some tips on how I store my textile goodies, then you can read that here.
I also recently organized my quilts with my new Quilt Cabinet, in case you’re on an organizational kick

1. How to Stay Motivated on Big Quilt Projects
I was so happy to see this one resonated with you. It was a lovely reminder of how perspective is half the battle – ha! That, a little pre-planning, and small steps are key at keeping the overwhelm at bay helping you stay the course.
Read all the insights and tips I thought of while making the linen and woven FQ Spinning Snowflakes quilt.

Thank you so much for being here and supporting my online creative pursuits! I love sharing my quilty adventures with you, and it just wouldn’t be the same without our amazing community.
