Is it me, or is 2017 just FLYING by?!!
Yes, you read that correctly – we’re getting summer in fall. Not sure what’s
going on, but we’ve had heat warnings and some of our hottest days at the tail
end of September/ beginning of October.
time to set my goals for Q4 of the Finish-A-Long!
oodles of time to tackle my list. But, then, life happened! LOL! Priorities had
to get shifted and some of the quilt projects I wanted to make progress on were
put on the back burner.
cost to you, if you click through and make a purchase, I may receive a
commission.
Despite these unexpected events, I still managed to make
headway on my list.
my Q2 2017 FAL list,
but I hadn’t had the chance to share the story behind each of them. And, I don’t
know about you, but I love hearing the journey behind quilt projects.
FINISHED PROJECTS
complete. But I’m so thrilled I didn’t give up on her. The response has been
wonderful and proof that good things come to those who stick it out. At this
point, the only struggle remains trying to convince people to USE her!
exception of some fabric I purchased for the binding, everything else was
fabric scraps, orphan blocks or fabric I already had on hand. You know my love
of working with fabric scraps and this project is proof positive that great
things come from working within the confines of what you already have on hand.
one I’m looking forward to trying out again. But what I loved most was how
connected I felt to our quilting community. Totally unexpected, yet so heart
warming.
that’s ok.
PROJECT UPDATES
I still managed to make some progress on the following projects.
also (technically) done! I just haven’t had the chance to post about her. I
took some quilts in the wild photos of her last weekend, but, sadly, they didn’t
turn out that great. So, another photo session is in order. I’ll include her on
my Q4 list as I really don’t consider a project fully complete until I’ve shared
all the details with you 😉.
my opinion of working with green, and I’m now in LOVE with the colour. And, I’m
releasing the Plus Infinity pattern I designed for this project. Lots of fun
coming this Friday!!
made using Heartland fabrics designed by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics – such a gorgeous line. The quilt
top is all pieced, I just need to find time to baste and quilt her up!!
the quilt top was complete and I needed to get her basted. I’m happy to report
that she’s not only basted, but she’s well on her way to being entirely quilted
too! I still have the binding and label to create and attach, but she should be
a quick finish.
enjoying every stitch. I was making good headway on the hand quilting, but then
lost my thimble! EEK, the horrors! If you’ve subscribed to my weekly newsletter then you know I’ve
already replaced her with a new leather one that I’ve had my eye on for quite some time now. Oh, how it’s the small things
that can make you so happy!
I snuck in some progress on this neutral colourway I’ve been wanting to experiment with using my Medallion Squared block pattern. As I mentioned last time, I’m not sure whether I will continue with this one. I’m still mulling and not quite ready to remove her from my project list. Time will tell what happens with this one!
quarter. I did think of them…does that count?!
get back to this one. I’m really close too. I’ve already completed Rows 1,
2,
3 and 4.
I just have one more row to finish and then it will be onto the borders and
sashing. Ok, so maybe not so close! But I love the colourway I’ve chosen for
this quilt and miss playing with all those corals.
you would think would mean a quick finish. But I think it’s the zippers that
are deterring me. Not that they’re hard, but it’s been awhile and, so, I’ve
stalled on these ones. Plus, I don’t have a set hard deadline…need I say more?
It will feel good to tackle the Hexie and Frolic pillows and get them off my
list. Maybe if I gift them as Christmas gifts it will help motivate me to
finish them up??!! Makers logic, right?!
I also didn’t touch any thread burying on my Molinari
challenge. She’s still patiently draped over the back of my sofa just waiting
to be finished up. Soon, I promise!
NEW PROJECTS
If the above wasn’t enough, I have a few more projects to
add to my list.
share much, but my list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning them 😉
shortly called the Plus Infinity Mini – this one is a direct offshoot of my
Rainbow Plus mini, but in the RJR Fabrics colourway! I love it when a quilt
pattern looks completely different just by switching up the colourway. This is
proof positive of that!
one I’ve been thinking about the design for months now. Does that ever happen
to you? I just need to sit down and put pen to paper.
you won’t be punished for not completing a project and, since I never really
know which ones will get finished, it’s best to list them ALL!! I’m linking up
over on my quilt buddy Dizzy Quilts’ site and look forward to seeing your quilt projects there too!!
